Well, that was frustrating. Once again, we experienced the spatial disruptions caused by Earth 2’s sun. Many of our ship systems, including communications, transporters, propulsion, and deflector operations were affected, and we had to rely on auxiliary generators to keep the Enterprise functioning. I was unable to broadcast any PAO updates during that time.
We originally experienced this same solar activity last year (in our native reality), when we first discovered Earth 2. Back then, we were incapacitated, in Earth 2 orbit, for 42 days. This time, the solar activity lasted only 16 days, and it was a bit more intense, with a spectacular swirling of colors around the Enterprise as the energy waves interacted with our shields.
Our studies (from before), indicate that the sun of this mysterious star system seems to build up energy every decade, and then expels that energy through the solar activity we experienced. This, we believe, acts as a magnet to stabilize Sol 2.0 -- and its orbiting planets -- within our reality, instead of returning them to wherever they came from.
As a result of this remarkably well-timed phenomena, we were forced to delay most of our surface deployments. A few habitat containers, as well as a number of supply drops were successfully completed before we had to halt the operation, however, the personnel managing those deployments were stranded on the planet until earlier today. With the solar activity subsiding, the remainder of our surface deployments will resume tomorrow. The landing of my runabout, the SS Terra Nova, will be among them.
Despite this delay, we are all eager to learn more about the mysterious planet below us, and the strange disappearance of its small-community inhabitants.
