Our Enterprise Marines have secured the deployment zones for our science equipment, and preparations to land it to the surface of Earth 2 are underway. The Marines have also visited some of the communities near those zones, and have found them abandoned – rather recently, too, as far as I’m told. Some specialized Starfleet science personnel have now joined the Marines on the surface as well, and the initial recon efforts continue.
Unfortunately, I do not have enough information, regarding the findings of those on the surface, to report any further details at this time.
