  • Sam had a normal, middle-class childhood.
  • Sam was raised by Christian/Lutheran parents.
  • Sam attended a Lutheran grade school, and a Lutheran high school.
  • Sam developed an interest in drawing and acting.

  • Sam learned to play baseball, and played it regularly with friends.

  • Sam lived on campus while attending Milwaukee Lutheran College.
  • Sam's girlfriend, and high school sweetheart, Lily Andrews, died in a vehicle accident while Sam was attending college. Lily had loved Sam's storytelling while they were together, so, to honor her memory, he started writing shorts stories.
  • Sam did not date anyone else in college (after Lily's death).

  • By the time Sam entered Starfleet Academy, he was already a notable Earth cultural celebrity. People recognized him from his movies.
  • Sam earned the nickname, "Titan", because of his celebrity status, his influence with famous people, and his girlfriend, actress, Mara Kendricks.
  • Sam's actress girlfriend, Mara Kendricks, disappeared aboard the Starfleet vessel, USS Chogatta (Constellation-class), when it mysteriously disappeared in 2352.
  • Sam earned respect as a descendent of Jonathan Archer.
  • Sam played on the Starfleet Academy Parrises Squares team. Skill- 3.
  • Sam's SFA science degree focused on history (namely Federation history), as well as studies in Temporal Physics.
  • Sam easily made it through most Academy theater production auditions, especially given his previous experieince as a professional film actor. He performed in multiple theater productions while at the Academy, and was a significant marketing draw for the productions that he was in.

  • Sam was friends with classmate, Benjamin Sisko, while attending the Academy.

  • USS VALDEMAR - (Ambassador-class):
  • Sam developed an interest in 21st Century Country Music during this tour.
  • Sam developed an interest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe during this tour.
  • Sam survived the destruction of the USS Valdemar, at the hands of the Cardassians (an ambush) during the Cardassian War. Sam spent time in an escape pod, with other survivors, until he was rescued.

  • ALTERNATE REALITY: Sam remembers owning a Danube-class runabout, an alternate "SS Terra Nova", and has fond memories of the joys and independence offered by the ownership of a small starship.
  • ALTERNATE REALITY:  Sam remembers an alternate survival experience, on a distant planet he calls "the Guardian of Forever" planet. He remembers passing through some sort of "portal" during an away mission, that sent him to this distant planet, and then spending three weeks surviving there -- alone. He states that he does not know where the portal that sent him to this distant planet is located.
  • ALTERNATE REALITY: Sam remembers alternate social relationships with Tessa Kensington, Cassie Queen, and David Brown on deck 2 of the Enterprise-D. He has memories of game nights, lounge decorating, and PAO-hosted holiday parties.
  • Sam and Jean-Luc Picard are the only people to retain first-hand knowledge of the Devron Anomaly. Everyone else lost most of their memory of the event due to the de-aging process caused by the anomaly (i.e., lost memory engrams).
  • Sam claims to have "temporal dreams" in which he witnesses historic events.
