Then, in an instant, just as before, the Devron Anomaly flashed out of existence, and we were left drifting, alone, in the black of space.
All of this happened in a matter of minutes. To say we were caught off guard would be an understatement. When we overcame our disorientation, we discovered that our spatial coordinates were altered, and we were, once again, located within the Devron System – inside the Romulan Neutral Zone. We detected a Starfleet marker buoy, confirmed our coordinates, and discovered that we have also been displaced in time. According to that marker buoy – which is a memorial to us – today’s date is September 18, 2367.
We have very little data to work from, but it appears as though time somehow “reset itself”, we re-experienced the last few moments of the Devron Anomaly, and then we were spit out into the year 2367 (instead of 2365, like last time). What seems most peculiar, however, is that our crew remembers everything this ship experienced – our missions, our encounters, our planetary visits. We, as a ship and crew, have not been “reset”. Even our computer records remain intact.
Our Lieutenant Commander Data also presented another baffling discovery. Just like before, there were two other alternate USS Enterprise-D ships inside the Devron Anomaly. This time around, sensor data captured during our brief return to the anomaly, indicates that one of those other ships had the same exact warp signature that we do, and conforms to the scan rotations we were using the first time we entered the Devron Anomaly. In short, one of those other ships was us – three years ago. When Lieutenant Commander Data looked at the sensor readings we captured inside the anomaly three years ago, one of the other two Enterprise’s we saw then... was us, now.
Confused? I don’t blame you. It took me a while to wrap my head around this discovery too. We were, apparently, two of the Enterprise’s inside the Devron Anomaly – from two different times, and two different realities. Lieutenant Commander Data theorizes that at some point, we will likely return here, and be the third Enterprise in the Devron Anomaly as well.
Now, what that colorful swirling radiation was, that brought us back to the Devron Anomaly, remains unknown. Something tells me there’s more to that than meets the eye as well.
For matters of security, Captain Picard has moved the Enterprise out of the Neutral Zone, and into the safety of Federation space. There are no ships – Federation or Romulan -- within our one-light-year sensor range, so we appear to be alone. Command discussions continue, as we determine what actions to take moving forward.
