The Hawking and the Invictus

Events seem to be going our way lately. Early this morning, the Enterprise detected a type-7 shuttle briefly appear in the planet’s atmosphere. Second’s later, as it entered orbit, it shot into warp and disappeared. Not long after, that same shuttle was detected coming around the planet from the other side. It was identified as the “Invictus”, the shuttle Lieutenant Commander Edward Marcus launched from the USS Arcane.

The “Invictus”, however, was not piloted by Lieutenant Commander Marcus, instead, it carried Tessa Kensington, Cassie Queen, and Lieutenant David Brown, the original passengers from my shuttle, the “Eagle”. All three individuals were treated for notable injuries once they were brought aboard the Enterprise; Tessa remains under medical observation. Lieutenant Commander Marcus did not make it back, and the “Eagle” has been destroyed.

Later in the afternoon, we also witnessed one of our two missing type-7 shuttles, the “Hawking”, appear in the atmosphere and enter obit. All six individuals that disappeared on that shuttle, where aboard when it reappeared. There were no reported injuries.

Our other type-7 shuttle, the Marine shuttle, “Arizona” (carrying 10 Marines) remains missing, as does the second Pullman-class transport, “Volante” (carrying 32 personnel). A total of 42 Enterprise personnel are still out there somewhere, and, if survivor interviews are correct, there is nothing we can do to bring them back. They must return under their own power.

Unfortunately, I am under orders not to share specific details, from any of these returned individuals, at this time. Briefings and analysis continue. When I am cleared to share further details, I think I may actually have a few individuals share their personal experiences here – in their own words. I think it might be the most effective way to share the story of where they’ve been these past few days.

For now, the public remains in the dark on details, but we are grateful to have most of our missing crew back, safe, and unharmed.

-Lieutenant Sam Archer
