A Defensive Response

Early this morning, the Enterprise dropped to impulse, just outside the Sol System. Moments later we were intercepted by system patrol drones, followed by a handful of Starfleet and Port Guard ships. We were ordered to cut our engines, and remain at standby, after which we were boarded by Port Guard Rangers. Following a private discussion with our senior command staff, the Enterprise was escorted to a cleared position in Earth orbit, and our crew has been ordered to maintain essential operations only. Rangers have remained aboard to secure the Enterprise.

This is, most definitely, not how Earth Defense treats Starfleet ships, however, as noted previously, the Enterprise-D has been registered as destroyed (in this altered timeline), ever since the Devron Anomaly three years ago. The last time we emerged from the Devron Anomaly, we were able to send news of our survival, via commship, to Earth before we arrived. This time around, we didn’t have that option, and, instead, arrived unannounced. In that light, I can understand this Earth Defense reaction, however, I also get the feeling there’s more going on here than the sudden, and unexpected, “return” of a missing starship.

At the moment, we remain in secured Earth orbit, with armed Rangers still aboard. Starfleet/Earth command personnel have been escorting various individuals off-ship – apparently, to one of our nearby guard ships – and conducting briefings and interviews for most of the day. This is likely to continue into tomorrow, with my own interview scheduled for later in the evening. I’m not entirely sure what to expect, but I will comply with all orders, as required.

I will keep everyone updated, as security conditions allow.
